Sunshine Coast Australia Zoo

One of the premier Sunshine Coast attractions, known and loved around the world, is Australia Zoo. The popularity and conservation message of its founder the late Steve Irwin, as well as his family, has brought tourists flocking to the Zoo.

Australia Zoo, Queensland is located near the Glasshouse Mountains in the beautiful hinterland behind Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.

An established world-renowned Sunshine Coast attraction, the range of animals at the Zoo is extraordinary. You'll find Australian wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, koalas, echidnas, deadly snakes, dingoes to elephants, tigers, a Giant Galapagos Land Tortoise, and of course, a baby animal Petting Zoo.

There are even quite a few crocodiles. In fact, the crocodile shows are the highlight for many visitors. Visitors are given the opportunity to adopt an animal or become Wildlife Warriors.

In 2007 Australia Zoo Whale Watching was launched, reflecting Steve Irwin's passion for whale conservation. Guests will depart from Mooloolaba Wharf and encounter whales migrating up the east coast of Australia.

You can choose numerous ways to get to this Sunshine Coast tourist attraction. A courtesy bus runs from Noosa, Coolum, Maroochydore, Alexandra Headlands and Caloundra. Bookings are essential.

Croc Connections' coaches depart Brisbane daily providing warm-up commentary along the way, on the Zoo and the Irwin family. Croc Express bus trips pick-up daily from major hotels on the Gold Coast and Brisbane and at Roma Street Station.

State Government trains run from the Gold Coast and Brisbane. A courtesy bus meets passengers at Beerwah railway station. Council Sunbuses pick up along the length of the Sunshine Coast.

If self-driving, head north along the Bruce Highway for about 60 minutes out of Brisbane and follow the massive signs. Discount Australia Zoo tickets are readily available throughout Queensland through approved onsellers and simply cannot be missed.
